Just one hint from me: if you are really just looking to just create a list of Veeam differentiators over whatever legacy solution, then I recommend referring to our What's New documents for the past 4 years or so, and you will find that many of the features described there are still unique to Veeam. we just cannot help you analyze other vendor's shortcomings and drawbacks, as we may accidentally make some false statements due to lack of knowledge (and some other legal reasons - we've already learned well that "everything you say may and will be used against you"). Was comparing Veeam with ARCserve back then. Backup Exec offers Deduplication that might come in useful. Both products offer granular restores of files from an Image backup.
I dont know if Backup Exec offers these features. Backup Exec can backup VMware environments, but honestly we moved to Unitrends to backup our VMs and are much happier with the backup process. They seem to offer replication capabilities along with support for vSphere. Our users can certainly discuss whatever they want! Moreover, we will still be more than happy to talk about our own solution's features. Regarding a virtual environment, I have limited experience in that arena, but have done it. According to IDC, Veeam customers meet their recovery time and point objective (RTPO) SLAs 91 of the time compared to only 70.7 with. No, I am only talking about Veeam employees participating in the discussion.
